Anxiety

Some clients feel anxious about something specific, but most have a Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) which means that their feelings are vague, and deep-seated.

Do you feel some of these?

  • Feelings of panic, fear, and uneasiness
  • Problems sleeping
  • Cold or sweaty hands and/or feet
  • Panic attacks
  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart palpitations
  • Phobias
  • An inability to be still and calm
  • Dry mouth
  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
  • Nausea
  • Muscle tension
  • A level of fear that is inappropriate to the situation
  • Dizziness

Anxiety is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences at times. Many people feel anxious, or nervous, when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision.

Anxiety disorders, however, are different. They can cause such distress that they interfere with someone’s ability to lead a normal life.

An anxiety disorder is a serious mental illness.  For clients with anxiety disorders, worry and fear are constant and overwhelming, and can be crippling.

Talking to a professional is powerful because, often, once the fears and anxious thoughts are exposed the client can see them more clearly, and can often see for themselves a better perspective.

Being anxious is an awful feeling, like there is something nasty about to happen.  Life doesn’t have to be like that.
